I founded the Saturn Club in 1988, after a 20-year battle as a member of the Samsom Street Committee, determined to save the block. My hope was to create a salon where everyone would feel at home, stylists and customers alike. Happily, everyone did, and the same is true today.

People always ask how we got our name. My grandfather was a member of an exclusive men’s whist club in Buffalo, NY called the Saturn Club. As a young woman I lunched there on occasion, ever intrigued by its mystique. I thought that the name “Saturn” would impart an aura of the fantastic to my salon, and the word “Club” would connote belonging. And of course, Saturn is everyone’s favorite planet.

Soon after we opened, a gentleman named Martin Myerson was drawn to the salon, having been a member of the original Saturn Club. On being asked who he was, he said, “Oh, I used to run this place.” After a few years of his being a loyal customer, we realized that he had, indeed, been the former President of Penn.

Join us for great haircuts, good coffee, and conversation at the Saturn Club.
